Educational Programs:
All of the following offer CME/CE for
the specialties indicated by the sponsoring organizations. The APWCA seminars
are intended to be multidisciplinary and anticipated to provide CME/CE approval
for MD, DO, DPM, RN. Additionally, all of the following offer APWCA approved credit hours toward that required by the Association to maintain
credentialed status as Fellow, Diplomate or Associate. The amount of credit
hours at this time is pending program review and will be posted on our web and
future E-Mail News updates as each program is reviewed.

APWCA is a
collaborating organization and will be presenting the AM track of a full day
program on the “At Risk Foot”, on Wednesday September 10th. This is a
multi-disciplinary international conference offering the practicing physician,
podiatrist, resident, nurse and other health care professionals a comprehensive
overview of the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease, critical

VEITHsymposium*

The American Professional Wound Care
Association (APWCA) is a collaborating organization with VEITHsymposium. Wednesday,
November 19, will be the 3rd annual WOUNDS at VEITHsymposium. Dieter Mayer, MD,
Head of Wound Care at Zurich University Hospital (Zurich, Switzerland) serves as
director, along with a group of top-flight faculty.
WOUNDS is a distinct one-day comprehensive, well attended program for the
vascular specialist, podiatrist and other members of the wound care team
interested in all aspects of wound care. Rapid fire presentations, followed by
spirited discussions, including state-of-the art technology, techniques, and
controversies are the keystone of this one-day meeting. WOUNDS at
VEITHsymposium™ is included in the full Symposium registration fee. A per diem
rate of $295 is available for those wishing to register solely for the
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 sessions of WOUNDS. A special rate of $145 is
available for wound care nurses. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA
Category 1 Credit(s)™. 8 Hours of Continuing Education Contact Hours are
approved by Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, an approved sponsor
of the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. The program has also been
approved by APWCA Scientific Committee for 8 CME/CE hours in wound care as
required to maintain credentialing as a Fellow, Diplomate or Associate of the
Association.
The full vascular conference runs November 19 through November 23, at the Hilton
New York in New York City.

APWCA2009 National Clinical Conference April 2–5, 2009

Breaking News:
The American College of Hyperbaric Medicine (ACHM) will be holding its
Annual National Conference, with
APWCA2009 National Clinical Conference. We extend a warm welcome to all
members of the ACHM and are pleased to have their participation with our
scientific program. This brings APWCA2009 to a new level that has not been
available in Wound Care educational conferences prior to this event!
Collaborating societies with the April meeting will be: ilegx (BIBA Medical –
our European collaborating society) and Temple University School of Podiatric
Medicine. We are please again this year that the conference will be
co-sponsored by Department of Continuing Medical Education of Temple University
School of Medicine.
APWCA2009, “Wound Care and the Related Sciences” will be hosted in Philadelphia,
PA at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center, 17th and Race Streets.
A multidisciplinary event, with international faculty, over 30 faculty members
and 30 contact hours of education planned. This is a monumental event which for
the first time combines efforts of APWCA and ACHM. There are many other
academic and social surprises that will occur during this extraordinary
educational conference.

World Union of
Wound Healing Societies, Toronto Canada, All of our members have an opportunity to attend what could
be a once in a lifetime opportunity. The World Congress meets every four years
and travels to different locations throughout the world. It is doubtful that
the next WUWHS will be held in North America and may very well be located in the
Far East when it resumes in 2012. Therefore, we encourage all members to take
advantage that the fact the “local” Toronto location is a short flight or for
some a short drive. The WUWHS 2008 Congress is expected to draw approximately
5,000 registrants from all corners of the globe. APWCA is a hosting society and
with that has been charged with organizing the Diabetic Foot Stream … so please
plan to attend and meet with your other APWCA colleagues. The scientific
program, social agenda, registration and hotel information can all be found by

The preceding is a list of conferences that have APWCA participation: (**)
denotes APWCA Wound Care Symposium to be held within the Conference or Seminar,
(*) denotes APWCA members as faculty; (-) denotes no direct APWCA involvement,
but attended by APWCA members who are leaders in wound care. (APWCA CME pending)
denotes that a portion of the program meets APWCA criteria for credit hours of
education which members can apply toward their APWCA CME requirement. The number
of credit hours have not been determined. Active APWCA credentialed members must
attain a specified minimum of contact hours to maintain their credentialing.
APWCA requires Fellows,
Diplomates and Associate members to attain a minimum of 21 hours of medical
education every three years in wound care in an APWCA Conference or a seminar by
another organization approved by the APWCA Scientific Committee.
Members-in-Industry and Professional Members do not have to meet a continuing
medical education requirement.
